Imlil Valley & the High Atlas

Full day Private From Marrakech 64 km

Imlil sits 64 kilometers from Marrakech at the foot of the High Atlas, and it is the trailhead for most of the region’s treks. This day trip gets you into the mountains and back by around five, with mules and qualified local guides arranged when you want them.

If the valley gives you a taste for more, multi day treks start exactly here.

Pickup in Marrakech

We collect you at your hotel or riad and drive toward Tahanaoute, a town at the feet of the High Atlas, 35 kilometers out.

Past Tahanaoute the peaks begin. In Asni you visit a Berber family and hear about their culture and way of life at home.

Mountain villages, some of them two centuries old, scattered along the slopes. We stop for photographs of Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa at 4,167 meters, visible from both Marrakech and Imlil.

Almond, quince and apple groves, birdlife along the streams, and a last stop at the Kasbah of Tamadout before the drive back.
