Pickup at Casablanca airport and a first look at the city with the Hassan II Mosque, built over the ocean. On to Rabat for the Hassan Tower, the Kasbah of the Oudayas and the gardens of the Chellah, with lunch in the capital. In the afternoon the road climbs into the Rif mountains to Chefchaouen. Night in the blue town.

Morning at the Roman ruins of Volubilis, two thousand years old, with their mosaics and triumphal arch, then lunch in the holy town of Moulay Idriss. A tour of imperial Meknes in the afternoon, and arrival in Fez in the evening. Night in a riad.
A full day with a local guide in the 12th century city: the gates of the Royal Palace, the mellah, the Jnane Sbil gardens, the medina and its craft souks, the Bou Inania medersa, the zaouia of Moulay Idriss, the Chouara tanneries, the Batha museum, the Borj Sud and Borj Nord towers and the Merinid tombs. Lunch in a traditional restaurant. Night in the riad.
Into the Middle Atlas: the village of Imouzzer, the alpine town of Ifrane, and the cedar forest of Azrou with its Barbary macaques. Lunch of Berber tagine in Midelt, then the long descent to Merzouga. Camel ride into the dunes of Erg Chebbi for sunset, dinner around the fire and a night at a desert camp under the stars.
Back through Erfoud and along the southern side of the High Atlas: the Todra Gorges, the Dades valley and the Route of the Thousand Kasbahs, with the old kasbahs of the palm groves along the way. Arrival in Ouarzazate, the Hollywood of Morocco. Dinner and night at the hotel.
